A work of speculative fiction. The Department of Strategic Continuity is not a real government agency, and this is not a government website. About this project

Accessibility

strategiccontinuity.org aims to be usable by everyone, and is designed to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

Measures taken

  • Semantic HTML with a consistent heading hierarchy, landmarks and a "Skip to main content" link.
  • Every page is fully usable with a keyboard, with a clearly visible focus indicator.
  • After navigating between pages, focus moves to the new page's main heading and the page title is announced to screen readers.
  • Text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA color-contrast ratios.
  • Charts are provided with a written summary and an equivalent data table. Tables use header cells and captions.
  • Expandable sections use native disclosure controls, which work with assistive technology and without JavaScript.
  • Animations are minimal and are disabled when your system requests reduced motion.
  • Layouts reflow to a single column on small screens and at up to 400% zoom without horizontal scrolling.
  • Every page is delivered as complete HTML, so content remains readable if JavaScript fails to load.

Known limitations

Some wide data tables in technical publications require horizontal scrolling on small screens; these tables are placed in keyboard-focusable scroll regions. Decorative report covers are hidden from screen readers because the same information is given as text.

Feedback

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on this site, please report it using the method on the Contact page. Describe the page, the problem, and the browser and assistive technology you were using.

This statement was prepared in October 2026 and will be reviewed with each release.
